Our History |
Tomball Cowboy Church was started in November 1992 by Pastor Shawn and Charlotte O’Hearn. We first began services on every other Sunday morning in a horse barn. We then grew to having services three Sundays a month and eventually services were held every Sunday. In December 1994, the church incorporated and obtained non-profit organization status. Then we finally outgrew the ” Barn of the Lord ” and moved temporarily until 1996 when the Lord brought us to our South Cherry and Agg. Rd. location – the new ” Barn of the Lord “. The church has had continued growth since its inception and is the Pastor’s heart and vision, along with the people to continue with that growth with an indoor 3,000 seat rodeo arena to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ ! The church is unique in this area, in that we are a non/interdenominational spirit-led church that worships in a western atmosphere. We hold church in a 16,000 square foot enclosed barn. Many of the people are cowboys and cowgirls, but you certainly don’t have to be! Many of them just enjoy the atmosphere and the anointing of God. We serve a heapin’ variety of Spirit-led guest speakers, ministers, teachers and music ministries for those, hungry for the Word of God. Plus, we have plenty of ministry for our children and teenagers too, in their new air conditioned children’s church. We all have alot of fun too: (free concerts, picnics, pot-lucks & summer camps)! Who said “you can’t have fun at church?” …we sure do! To help with your growth in Jesus Christ, we offer discipleship classes before church on Sundays at 9:00 am, called Life Development. A thirty-three week bible based teaching and a seperate membership class. “We don’t want to get people saved, then give them a bible and say, Hope you make the trip ! ! “ Pastor Shawn We desire to see you grow into all God has for you !! Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God We reach a lot of people that would not go to traditional churches for one reason or another. Most people wear jeans and boots, (dress is casual) as we sit on hay bales for pews. Praise God, we are blessed with people like yourself that are seeking God and desire a place in the body of Christ. Praise God, He’s willing to touch ANYONE, ANYWHERE !!! WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU !! |
